This is a blog from an International Tour Guide. I have been travellying the world since 1992 and have had many crazy experiences. Whether it is getting lost in Cario, eating weird food in Portugal or dealing with complete idiot tourist I will post it here.
Educated as a Tour Manager in the United States, I spent the first part of my life travelling the world. During the travel boom in the 1990's I spent my life in western Canada or overseas in Portugal and Spain. I learned how to provide real customer service, deal with complete jerks, and work with language barriers.
Training became my focus in 2000 after being hired by Canada’s largest inbound Tour Operator to train their field staff. Hated that job really, having to deal with corporate politics and a boss that didn’t know her ass from her eyeball.
In 2004 I was named "Teacher of the Year" by George Brown College. That was great and I decided teaching was my thing. I really believe in Guide Licensing and have been active in the city of Toronto and throughout Canada to implement this. I think there are just so many really poor guides out there.
I have a diploma in Teaching Adult Learners and conduct various courses in Toronto including Public Speaking, Customer Service, Conflict Resolution, Tour Guiding and Internet Marketing.
My guide students have gone forward to work throughout Canada, United States, Austria, Costa Rica and Australia. As for the Internet Marketing students, they have put more than 100 sites on the first page of Google. Now that’s success!
